How to get started with Sandbox
To access the Sandbox, please use the following link: https://sandbox.finngen.fi/
Getting started
You can access all the FinnGen data in the Sandbox and have the possibility to ask endless questions. This makes the Sandbox a veritable treasure chest!
To use this powerful and configurable environment, you may need to do some learning and adjusting to make the most out of it.
When you use the Sandbox, you do this through a personal Linux-based virtual machine.
Because you use the sandbox through a personal Linux-based virtual machine, being familiar with the Linux command line and typical command line tools is very helpful.
FinnGen Handbook
This handbook aims to help you to use the Sandbox and its various applications.
If you have suggestions to improve or add missing content, please contact us using the #finngen handbook Slack channel. We warmly welcome any suggestions you might have.
FinnGen Users' meetings
You will receive a calendar invitation to join the FinnGen Users’ meetings once a month on Tuesdays. In these meetings, we will cover new or improved Sandbox tools and data sets. Often, we give a preview of new tools in development for feedback. Many FinnGen team leaders and developers attend these meetings so this is a great opportunity to ask questions. If you haven't received the calendar invitations to these meetings, please contact finngen-servicedesk@helsinki.fi.
Online training
