How do I calculate time between events?

The exact number of days between events is not available due to issues of personal data security. The available age-at-event data is accurate to 3.65 days, so for example, if you have an event that occurs at age=58.04 and again at age=58.06, approximately a week has elapsed in between them.

The Release 5 (R5) longitudinal data works a little differently, with a random (up to +/-15 day) offset for each participant (see Data masking/blurring of visit dates). In this way, if you're working with R5 data, you can calculate exact time between events and also compare the temporal order of events between different registers for each individual participant (see Is there really no participant birth year data in Sandbox?).
